A Years Supply..

My Dad is really into food storage which is great! He had inspired me...You should see his storage room filled to the brim. It is great to think that if there was something bad we could maybe hold up at his house, but it is not always the case so slowly I have been buying somethings that can hold us over for a while. Travis' idea was to buy this huge thing of soup packets at Costco with enough soup to last 3 months for the both of us. But then we thought we needed water so I bought a water container and slowly some other items. I have been trying to decide where I should begin and today I recieved an email from my friend Jeannie with a list of food storage items that you can buy for $5 a week. I love you all and want you to be prepared so if you haven't started I think this is a good place to start. Take a look.....Oh also if you have ideas for the rest of us let us know, I love new insight.

At The End Of The Day . . .

After the long day of exploring we thought it would be fun to take a dip in the pool. It was Easton's first time in a pool and he seemed to like it. The water was a little chilly so we didn't stay for too long. Later that night we decided to go somewhere for a nice dinner to sum up our trip and found a resturant on a hill that overlooked moab, it was a nice ending to a great time, and our 1st family trip.

Canyonlands National Park

Canyonlands National Park has to roads that go into it, but do not connect. We thought it was a little crazy to have to drive 70 miles to the other end of the park so we just saw it from one end. It was cool, but we thought Arches had more sites and things to do. Nevertheless we got our cancellation stamp!

Delicate Arch

You've seen this arch somewhere right? It's the license plate arch... We hiked to this arch just as the sun was setting. It made for a beautiful view of the arch. As you can tell Easton loved it too. This place was filled with photographers trying to get that perfect picture. One guy we saw on the way up was a little out of shape and didn't end up making it to the top. He said, " With no sun there is no picture." He was only about 100 feet from the arch.

HOLE N' THE ROCK

You can't go to Moab without going to Hole N' The Rock. It is a little ghetto, but makes for some fun pictures with their petting zoo of about 5 animals and their metal sculptures about the yard.

Double Trouble

I'm not sure what it is about men, but they love to go where they are not suppose too. Travis decided he wanted to climb up into Double O Arch so that we could take a picture. After I told him it probably wasn't the best idea, he went anyways... Once he got to the top and we took some pictures there were some tourists from Korea who were also taking pictures of him and telling me that my husband was Superman. HAHA... It was a different story on the way down... After climbing up this steep rock Travis proceeded down, but wasn't sure how to go about it. Nervously I told him just to slide down on his behind, but as he started he slipped and all of the tourists Gasped! To try and correct himself he stared running down the hill really fast, jumped off of rocks and landed safely to the cheers of Horray and Thumbs up of these Amazed tourists. I guess he will be in there photo albums too.

Devils Garden

Devils Garden is located in Arches National Park. It is a 7.2 mile hike where you can see the popular Landscape Arch (Long thin arch in the pictures) and the Double O Arch. There are also other smaller arches along the way. The cool part about this hike are the "fins" you walk on which are narrow walkways of rock. This was our longest hike, and probably most adventurous.

Our 1st Family Trip!

When we were married our honeymoon was to Yellowstone (Perfect since we love the outdoors!). While we were there we bought a book that had sections for you to mark off when you visit a National Park, with what is called a Cancellation (Stamp with the symbol of the National Park on it) that are only at the visitor centers of the parks. Our goal is to see how many National Parks that we can visit in our lifetime. Since there are five national parks in Utah we thought our 1st Family Trip since Easton came into our lives should be to Moab, which is close to Arches National Park and Canyonlands National Park. Perfect! We had a great time and cancelled off two of the major parks on our list.

Bridal Veil Falls

We decided we better start preparing for our Moab trip this weekend, so we took to the trails.....well, a paved trail up Provo Canyon, but close enough. It was Easton's first trip in his new pack. He loved it! He giggled the whole way, that was until he fell asleep. He is such a blessing in our lives, even when he is not feeling the greatest, he always seems to crack a smile to make us laugh! Kids are the greatest!

Trip to Cabela's

So we decided to invite Amy and the kids on a trip to Cabela's. Her kids have never been and we knew that Nathan loved animals. It was a great time. Easton and I had been a little sick as you can see from his picture with the red tired eyes. He was a good sport though. Travis I think put at least $5 into playing the "Shoot the Buck" game or something like that, he was addicted. The fish tank was cool and we timed it so we could see them feed the fish.

These fish just sat and stared at us the whole time. I can only image what they thought of us :)

Yum! Yum!

Lately Easton has been watching us eat with inquisitive eyes, wondering when it will be his turn. Travis gave him this packaged ham and he acted like he was really eating it, he was so excited. When we went in for his 6 month appointment and the Doctor gave us the go ahead to start giving him food.... Needless to say he is not really sure if it is suppose to go in his mouth, on his head, up his nose, or all over his face. Regardless of the picture I think we got some in his mouth. If any of you moms have any suggestions how to keep them a little bit cleaner during dinner time, please feel free to give me advice, I still find some sweet potatos in the oddest places :)
